This poem really spoke out to me due to the painting that was accompanied with it. I feel the author is trying to portray not a firetruck but he is trying to explain how life works. Despite that there was rain (in the poem) the obvious physical features will always still stick out on the truck. I feel that when this is how life works. No matter what happens nothing will slow down. If a personal tradadgy occurs in a certain persons life, no matter how bad it is , nothing will slow down. All of lifes aspects will keep moving ( jobs, people around you, etc..) In the last line the poet said
"and wheels rumbling
through the dark city"
I believe hes basically saying that even during the dark ( dark referring to tough times ) the truck ( or life in my opinion) will keep moving
